Troy
These gouache paintings were made in response to No Second Troy (1910), by W.B. Yeats (1865 - 1939). No Second Troy seemed to me full of unanswered questions, to match this and in response to imagery of the last line, I wanted to create a scene that was dreamlike, houses with glowing windows and smoke merging with the sky. I wanted to create an frustrated and unsettled scene, which I think mirrors the content and tone of the poem itself.
